Bobby Joe Atha
January 29, 1934 - June 10, 2007
Bobby Joe Atha son of Samuel Lawrence and Goldie Dessie (Thomas) Atha was born January 29, 1934 in Drakes Creek, Arkansas and departed this life on June 10, 2007 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 12 days.
He married Barbara Jane Reed on September 27, 1956 and to this union 3 children were born; Betty Louisa, Randy Joe and Sandra Jane.
He was a Rancher and a member of the Welders and Pipe Fitters Local Union #430. Joe also served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. For enjoyment, his favorite pastimes were fishing, deer hunting and playing dominoes with friends and neighbors. His favorite was fishing, in fact, after he and his wife Barbara were married, Joe taught her how to fish. They had many hours of fun at the creeks and lakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister; Sarah Violet Boyd.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife of over 50 years; Barbara Jane Atha of the home in Westville, OK, 2 (3 ?) children; Randy Joe Atha and wife Joyce of Westville, OK, Sandra Jane Dixson and husband John Allen of Austin Texas,(Betty Louisa ?); four grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 brother; James Franklin Atha of Fayetteville, AR. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Ray Phillips officiating.
Interment followed in the Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
