Michael Ketcher, 64, of Oologah, Oklahoma, departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2013. He was born on September 20, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Ralph Ketcher and Alyene Hogner.
Michael graduated from Stilwell High School with the class of 1966. He furthered his education at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma where he played baseball. Michael was drafted by the Saint Louis Cardinals in 1969 and signed a contract for the 1970 baseball season. He was on their roster until an injury ended his career. Michael went on to work for the Federal Aviation Administration. Michael’s other passion besides baseball was Rodeo. He had many accomplishments in Steer Wrestling including being a Finalist in the Region 8 Indian Finals Rodeo. He also enjoyed teaching kids the game of baseball and loved spending time with family and friends.
His parents, Ralph Ketcher and Alyene Hogner, preceded Michael in death.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife, Nicole Hauser Ketcher of the home, and children: Michael Zayne Ketcher and wife Hollie of Elkins, Arkansas; Daniel Ketcher of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; Jacob Ketcher of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; Eric Dean Ketcher and wife Kim of Kellyville, Oklahoma; Jessie Tyler Ketcher of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Nicholas Henry Ketcher of Oologah, Oklahoma; and 18 grandchildren. Michael is also survived by siblings: Ralph Ketcher of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Gene Ketcher and wife Pam of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Ronnie Ketcher of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Mary J Goodall and husband Steven of Waco, Texas; Jeffrey Simpson and wife Joanna of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Kathy Ann Hevezi and husband Chuck of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday September 13, 2013 at 1:00pm at New Life Church with Joey Ketcher officiating. Interment followed in the Tyler Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
