David Cecil Williams
April 7, 1930 - July 5, 2009
David Cecil Williams was born April 7, 1930, in Chandler, Oklahoma, one of six children, born to Ulysses Williams and Ruby Merle Newnam Williams. He passed away July 5, 2009, at his home in Bunch, Oklahoma, at the age of 79.
In December 1953, he married Fonda Pinion in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To this union were born seven children, David C. Jr., Fonda Kay, Lesa, Gary Clay, Scott Lee, Gina Lynn and Vicki Jean.
He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a sergeant on heavy artillery. He spent a number of years as the investigator for the District 27, District Attorney.
While his first love was buying, developing and selling real estate, he was a man of many talents and his working history led him from concrete finishing, farming/ranching to investigator for Oklahoma District 27 District Attorney’s office, where he was responsible for raids on, and prosecution of, numerous person operating illicit drug operations. He retired in 1990. He loved to travel and since his retirement, had traveled extensively. Dave was fun-loving father and devoted grandfather who spoiled his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unashamedly.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother, U.G. Williams and one sister, Cosette Farrell, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Fonda Pinion Williams, of the home; three sons, David Williams Jr., of Bunch, OK, Gary Williams, of Bunch, OK, Scott Williams and wife, Tammy, of Sallisaw, OK; four favorite daughters, Kay Lee and husband, Ronald, of Oklahoma City, OK, Lesa Stewart and Mike Butler, of Massachusetts, Gina Fletcher and husband, Jody, Bunch, OK, Vicki Sawney and husband, John, of Sallisaw, OK.
Nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren include, Jason Stewart, wife Amanda and sons, Kaleb and Bailey, of Alabama, David Williams and sons, David and Ian, of West Siloam Springs, OK, Melissa and sons, Dakota and Anthony Reid, of Sallisaw, OK, Steven Harris, Dawn Harris, Christopher Harris, of Oklahoma City, OK, Gary Williams Jr. and daughter, Kaidence, of Bunch, OK, Katheryn Stewart, of Fayetteville, AR and her dad, Roger Stewart, of Florida, Samantha Poe and husband, Bryan, of Kentucky, Gregory Cahue, of Kentucky, Danielle Perry, Amanda Perry and Tressa Williams, of Sallisaw, OK, Andrew Fletcher and Maegan Fletcher, of Bunch, OK, Caitlin Sawney, Madalyn Sawney, Brenna Grace Sawney and Darby Sawney, of Sallisaw, OK.
He is also survived by two brothers, Vernon Clayton Williams and wife, Glenda, of Broken Bow, OK, Buell Williams and wife, Sharon, of Bunch, OK, one sister, Norma June Loyd and husband, Azle, of Bunch, OK as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the Assembly of God in Bunch with Rev. Azle Loyd officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
