Homer L. D. Scott was born January 31, 1935 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Homer and Jessie (Murrell) Scott. He departed this life, at his home in Stilwell, on February 17, 2018 at the age of 83 years and 17 days.

Homer grew up in Stilwell, where he attended grade school in the Rocky Mountain and Cave Springs area. He graduated from Stilwell High School in 1951 at the age of 16.

After graduating, he went to Kansas City, where he lived with his aunt and uncle, working at a service station and a refrigeration company. When he was 18 he was hired by Owens-Corning Fiberglass. In 1954 he joined and proudly served the United States Army for four years. He became a paratrooper, spending time in France, but most of his time was state side.

He married Nancy Sue Kelley on November 26, 1956. After serving in the Army he returned to Kansas City and Owens-Corning Fiberglass, where he worked for 41 ½ years until his retirement in 1994.

Homer loved sports, playing golf, and watching football, also reading and gardening. After retirement Homer and Sue moved back to Stilwell.

Homer was a born-again Christian an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Stilwell.

Homer’s wife Sue passed away after 47 years of marriage.

Homer became reacquainted with a widow, Billye Baird and they were married in 2005. Homer became an instant grandparent, “Papa Homer,” which he absolutely adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Virginia, Vera, and Jean.

Leaving to mourn his passing, wife: Billye of the home, two brothers: Bill and Bob, two sisters, Rene and Lorene, also stepsons: L. E. Baird (Jeffie), Scott Baird (Lisa), seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a special sister-in-law: Marjie Watkins, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Roberts/Reed-CulverChapel, Stilwell, with Bro. Roger Haney officiating.

Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery
