Harry Presley was born just east of Stilwell on Thanksgiving 1924 to John and Inez Presley. Harry went to be with the Lord on July 14 2019 at the age of 95.

Harry was a very humble man who wanted none of the usual things done for him when he died, no funeral , no obituary etc. He would never toot his own horn. So this isn’t a list of his accomplishments or family members etc. by any means, just a remembrance by a friend who loved him.

Harry lived here his entire life. He graduated from Stilwell High School in 1942.

He was baptized in 1950 and started preaching in 1956 on a fill-in basis. He served in the Korean conflict and he later also served in Germany where he spent 2 years preaching. In 1961 he became the full time pastor of Four corners Church of Christ and served in that capacity until 1986. He was still very active there while his health permitted.

Harry was a good, good man. He lived to honor his Lord and that was it. Period. He taught Christ , he lived Christ and he exemplified the life Christ wants us to live.

He “was a great man of words”. He wrote over 1200 poems over the years , of which some 200 were put to music. He was a published author and poet. He considered his poems to be a special Gift of God to glorify Him and to edify mankind. And they did...every one of them, he shared them freely and they were the Best.

Harry never married, he never had children. He had many siblings growing up. His church family was his family.  He was blessed to have one of those proverbs 18:24 friends that stick closer than a brother in Rick Ritter and family.

The last 10 years of Harry’s, life he lived at Stilwell Senior Housing where he made many friends, touched many lives and was known for his tight , heartfelt hugs. Harry could do the most difficult crossword puzzles in no time flat, he loved to read newspapers, he loved to watch sports. He knew every bird, plant and flower and all about them. He was a joy to be around. He remembered the names of your children and grandchildren and was tickled to see them. We are left with wonderful memories. He was deeply loved and is now deeply missed. But we know he has reached the final home he longed for. Well done my Good and Faithful servant.  Matthew 25:23

Harry Presley, son of John Presley and Inez (Richardson) Presley, was born November 27, 1924 in Stilwell, OK and departed this life July 15, 2019 in Fayetteville, AR at the age of 94 years, 7 months, and 18 days.

Interment was at the Stilwell City Cemetery.

Harry honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He obeyed the gospel and was baptized into Christ September 17, 1950 which began a long and faithful life in service to the Lord; part of those years as a preacher. In 1960 he re-enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany where he had the opportunity to preach to his fellow servicemen.

After his honorable discharge from the service he began full time minister work for the Four Corners Church of Christ on December 17, 1961. Harry served as preacher there for the next 25 years. On December 31, 1986 Harry was forced to retire from full-time preaching due to health reasons, but continued to teach the Adult Bible Class.

Harry was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers; Mel Presley and Jerry Presley, and one sister; Wanda Goldman.

He is survived by one sister; Delrey Penrose of Augusta, KS, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends, and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ
who mourn his passing but rejoice in his gain.

Harry was a very talented writer of poetry and music. He has written over 1200 religious poems putting some 200 of them to music. Below is a poem written by Harry.

“Well Done”
I know that soon my weary eyes
Will see life’s setting sun

So death will come as no surprise

(It comes to everyone.)

‘Tis certain that I’ll soon be borne

Away by angel hands

Who fitly will my soul adorn

For flight to other lands.

Where I will wear the crown I’ve won

As given by my Lord

And hear Him say to me, “Well done”

Enhancing my reward.

I know that He will welcome me

As one begotten twice

And glorified my soul will be

With Him in Paradise.
