On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Betty Jo Phelps awoke in her heavenly home surrounded by those whom she loved, who had preceded her in death.

Betty started this life on December 24, 1934 in Kilgore, Texas. She was the daughter of Jack and Lillie Powell. Betty grew up in Okmulgee and was a graduate of Okmulgee High School. Betty met her beloved husband, Cliff Phelps, at a church revival where she was playing the organ. Betty and Cliff were married on April 24, 1955. Their union was blessed with five children: Patricia Ann, Clifton Earl, Donna Marie, Michael David and Pamela Kay.

Cliff and Betty were early entrepreneurs determined to build a future for their family. In 1974 they established Mountain View Meat Company in Stilwell. Over the course of 40 years, five kids, 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, Mountain View has grown into a thriving business distributing their famous Hot Links nationwide.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Cliff; her parents, Jack and Lillie Powell and brothers, Jack and John Powell.

Betty leaves behind a wonderful heritage and legacy in her five children; Patricia Miller and husband Stacy of Stilwell, Clifton Phelps and wife Beth of Hominy, Donna Bailey and husband Gary of Stilwell, Michael Phelps and wife Kayla of Stilwell, Pamela Lawrence and husband Larry of Stilwell; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Betty was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her sister, Pat Riley and husband Keith of Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Betty loved the Lord and she loved her family.

“Her children rise up, and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28
