Emma Dean (Reed) Panter was born October 31, 1930 in Stilwell, OK to B.F. Reed and Mary Lillus (Rinehart) Reed. She passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the age of 82.
Emma Dean attended school in Morrow, AR and in Stilwell, OK graduating from Stilwell High School in 1948, after which she completed Hillcrest School of Nursing in Tulsa, OK, earning her Registered Nurse Diploma in 1951.
Emma Dean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ike and her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Ercelyn Reed.
Emma Dean married Ivory “Ike” C. Panter on September 1, 1950 and they raised their family in Stilwell. They had three children, Stephen, Melissa and Julie. Family who honors Emma Dean’s memory include Stephen and Jenny Panter and their family, Dr. Benjamin Panter and fiancé Meagan, Adam Panter and wife Jennifer and daughters Corbyn and Adalyn, and Misty Panter; Melissa and Lloyd Cole and their family, Clay Hill and wife Nikki and children, Brayden, Dalton, Cash and Kaden and Cole Hill and wife Courtney; Julie Panter and husband Chris Taylor; and one nephew, Russell Reed and wife Becky and daughter Elizabeth. Emma Dean had many other special relatives and friends in the Reed and Panter families and in her First Christian Church family.
Emma Dean had a true servant’s heart, always striving to please. Through the years, she was active in various areas of service to the First Christian Church where she was a member. Always, without fail, she gave freely of her time, self and love to us, her children and grandchildren. We all feel blessed and proud of her as our mother and grandmother and we will be forever thankful and grateful for her loving, quiet and strong Christian influence in our lives.
Any memorials in Emma Dean’s honor and memory should be made to the First Christian Church in Stilwell.
Funeral services were held at 10 am on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Eldon Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
