March 29, 1946-December 17, 2007
Dr. J.C. Dawson, long time Vinita, Oklahoma resident, departed this life on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the age of 61.
He was born on March 29, 1946 in Tulsa to Dr. J.V. and Leta Dawson.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, J.V. Dawson, paternal grandparents, A.V. and Rosa Dawson, and maternal grandparents, John and Jewell Hill.
Jim was raised in Stilwell, he graduated from Stilwell High School, Northeastern State University and Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1972.
He practiced in Stilwell for eight years with his father. In 1980, he puchased the practice of Dr. Jack Neff and the family moved to Vinita where he continued to practice for over 20 years.
Jim was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Vinita, The Vinita Lions Club, and former member of the Vinita Chamber of Commerce. Jim was also a member of the Oklahoma Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
He is survived by his wife Betty of the home, his mother Leta Dawson of Tahlequah, daughters, Leslie Janis and husband Dan of Vinita, Carol Allen and husband Roger of Dallas, TX, one son Cameron Dawson and wife Tina of Oklahoma City, three grandchildren Elizabeth, Cash and Drew Allensworth all of Vinita, many beloved relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm Thursday evening at at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita.
The funeral service for Dr. Jim Dawson will be held Friday, December 21, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Vinita, with Pastor Bob Johns officiating.
The committal service will be held in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Scott Hill officiating.
The family will receive friends in Stilwell just prior to the Committal Service.
Private interment will follow at the Stilwell Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, Oklahoma.
