Troy Franklin (Toots) Abbott was born March 30, 1921 in Natural Dam, Arkansas and passed from this life on July 23, 2011 at Tahlequah City Hospital at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 23, days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Maud (Dickerson) Abbott, brothers; Curtis Abbott and Bruce Abbott and sisters; Lillie Coons and Gretchen Ross.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Bettye, of the home, brother; Grady Abbott and wife Lillian of Broken Arrow, sister; Loretta Crittenden of Tulsa, sons; Mike Abbott and wife Elaine of Dallas, TX, Lloyd Abbott, Bob Ritter and wife Linda, Grady Ritter and wife Kathy, and Rick Ritter and wife Sandy, all of Stilwell, OK, daughter; Nancy Ganter and husband Lynn of West Virginia; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Toots’ greatest passion was his family. Traveling with Bettye and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids made him happier than anything. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and a long-time employee of Stilwell Public Schools.
Toots is a faithful member of Stilwell Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held, Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Rick Ritter and Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
