Dale Clyde Hooper was born December 25, 1929, in Boston, Arkansas to William Hooper and Ida (Newman) Hooper. He passed away February 22, 2012, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 27days.
Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a retired welder and owned Hooper’s Iron Works, in the Keys community, for over 20 years. On March 1, 2006, he married his second wife, Leona Pritchett, in Stilwell, Oklahoma.
Dale never met a stranger. Everyone that knew him, knew he always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was the happiest person you could ever meet. His chuckle leaves a mark in all our hearts. Dale’s hobbies included fishing, gardening, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ida Hooper, brothers, Dick Hooper and Denver Hooper, sister, Alpha Hodge and his first wife of over 50 years, Callie Hooper.
His surviving family includes his wife, Leona Hooper, of the home; children, Carol and Jerry Brown, of Keys, Brenda and Chuck Crawford, of Tahlequah, Floretta and David Burris, of Wichita, KS, Coretta and John Fitzgerald, of Wichita, KS, Laura Livers and Jeremy Pritchett, of Stilwell; grandchildren, Ronnie Burris, Daylene Gomez, Todd White, Yvette Brizuela, Lorissa Austin, Christian White, Mark Brown, Jeremy Kruse, Christine Thompson, Devinee Fitzgerald; 24 great grandchildren; siblings, O.D. and Barbara Hooper, of Stilwell, Ruby and L.D. Cone, of Tahlequah, Junior and Lavonne Hooper, of Neodesha, KS and Delmer and Beverly Hooper, of Haysville, KS.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Hart Memorial Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. Don Varble officiating. Interment will follow at Spade Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
