Services for Alex Cochran will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Salem Baptist Church with Bro. D.J. McCarter and Bro. Gary Flynn officiating.

Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Marcus Terrapin, Waylon Watie, Dewayne Scott, Jimmy Cochran, Christian Nofire, Alex Cochran. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Watie, Chester Nofire, Thomas Terrapin and Jerry Scott. Flower girls are Stephanie Sevenstar, Arisa Bunch, Shyley Watie, DeLana Scott, Savanna Vann, Tanisha Terrapin and Shanae Harjo.

Alex Cochran, the son of Sallie Deerinwater, was born on September 8, 1921, in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Alex earned his living doing various jobs that included logging and working for the charcoal company in Baron. After retiring, he volunteered at Maryetta School as a foster grandparent for 15 years, which he truly enjoyed. His hobbies included fishing and watching sports and spending time with family and friends.

Alex was outgoing. He was always willing to share a cup of coffee with visitors. Alex was of the Baptist faith. The Lord called him from his labors on June 29, 2014. He was 92 years old. He will be greatly missed.

Alex is preceded in death by his loving wife, Genora Cochran, his mother, Sallie Deerinwater, a daughter, Amalene Cochran, one son-in-law, Rufus Watie, and one daughter-in-law, Linda Cochran.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his children, Rosie McLemore and husband, Dewey, Mary Scott and husband, Jerry, Willard Cochran, Jess Cochran, Carolene Watie Sevenstarr, Sally Terrapin and husband, Thomas, Susie Nofire and husband, Chester, Johnny Cochran, Margie Cochran, Monroe Cochran and wife, Eva, all of Stilwell and a special mention to grand-daughter, Laura Cochran, who took care of him. His legacy lives on in his 59 grandchildren, 123 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends and loved ones.
