Frank Mink, the son of Sataka Mink and Lydia (Hothouse) Mink was born June 20, 1925, in Adair County, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on March 16, 2014, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 24 days.
Frank was a lifelong resident of Adair County. He was married to Emma Sue Proctor on July 28, 1948, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with eight children and lasted 56 years until Emma’s passing on April 23, 2005.
Frank served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a PFC infantryman. He was a member of the 1st Division 25th Regiment Company K, serving in Europe and Germany during World War II. He received several citations including the Purple Heart.
Frank worked for Stilwell Canning Company, Baldor Electric and retired from Greasy School as a bus driver after 21 faithful years of service. In his younger years, Frank loved playing baseball and basketball and later on enjoyed watching games. He enjoyed fishing and loved to sing, as his health permitted.
Frank was saved in 1957 and was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 1977 at Rock Fence Baptist Church, where he served as pastor for more than 20 years.
Frank was a very loving father and grandfather and enjoyed sitting on the porch sharing stories of the past. Frank was an honorable man of integrity and a true man of his word. He was faithful to his church and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sataka and Lydia Mink, his wife, Emma Mink, four sisters, two brothers, one infant son, one grandson, one great granddaughter and two great grandsons.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Callie Sevenstar and husband, Wayne, of Nicut, Walter Mink, of Wyoming, Melvin Mink, David Mink and wife, Jakkie, Dennis Mink, Daniel Mink, Glenda Beitz and husband, Carl, all of Stilwell, and Rita Benoit and husband, Chris, of Weleetka; 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive him.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Rock Fence Cemetery with Bro. George Polecat officiating. Burial is under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
