Connie Luella York
October 20, 1944 - June 21, 2009
Funeral services for Connie Luella York, age 64, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Sam England officiating. Interment will follow services at Reese Cemetery in Peavine, OK (north of Stilwell). Services have been entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Ray Helmick, Billy Joe Helmick, Derek Pollard, Michael Pollard, Clarence Smith Jr., and Charlie Copeland.
Connie Luella York was born October 20, 1944 in Greeley, Colorado, the daughter of Lynn and Mary (Watt) Isham. She went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2009, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
She attended school at Seneca and Sequoyah Indian School. After the death of her mother, she lived with her Uncle Lonnie and Aunt Susie Tatum until the age of 12. She then joined her siblings at the home of Uncle Bill and Aunt Rosie Formby of Hominy.
She worked at Golden Gate Field from 1968 to l991, when she retired. She spent most of her adult life in Pittsburg, California.
Connie loved children and fishing. She loved people and was always happy to help anyone in need. She was saved at the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah many years ago, and was anxious to "go see her Jesus”.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Smith of Tulsa, and Leroy Carpenter of Disney; one sister, Rosie Mercer of Commerce; her mother Mary and father Lynn Isham; foster parents Lonnie and Susie Tatum, Bill and Rosie Formby.
Those left to mourn her passing include one daughter, Jamie and husband Freddie Hurtado Jr. of Antioch, OK; three grandchildren, Freddie Hurtado Jr., Tierra Marie Hurtado,and Mariah Louella Hurtado, all of Antioch, California; two sisters, Shaaron Pauline Butler and Jessie Leona Copeland and husband Charlie of Muskogee; two brothers, Aaron Paul Isham and wife Naomi of Petit Bay, OK, and Marion Junior Carpenter of Tulsa; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and three special friends, Janie Hatfield, Miss Helen and Mary Williams.
