Wintress Pearl Lett

Wintress Pearl Lett, the daughter of Oscar Hills and Pearl (Carrier) Hills, was born November 3, 1918, in Cherryvale, Kansas. She departed this life July 21, 2011, at her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 18 days.
Wintress was a head drum major for the Cherryvale Drum and Bugle Corp for three years and led the group in many patriotic events. During a parade, she made eye contact with Lt. Max Lett and they later married on June 18, 1942, in Granda, Mississippi.

She was a military officer’s wife and homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. She loved painting, quilting and was an officer and member of the Stilwell Gardening Club. Her flowers won many awards. She was able to maintain her independence and control of her life to the end of her 92 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max and one infant son, James Lett.
Her surviving family includes her son, Max Lett, of La Mesa, New Mexico; three daughters, Sherry Blankenship, of the Baron Community, Linda Goff, of Angleton, Texas and Mary Jane Crocall, of West Cox Sackie, New York, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
