Funeral services for J.D. Leatherwood, of Westville, were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Hart Memorial Chapel in Westville with Bro. Samson Leach officiating. Interment followed at Proctor-Sanders Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
J.D. Leatherwood was born April 5, 1935, in Stilwell, Oklahoma to William D. and Joanna (Miles) Leatherwood. He passed from this life on April 13, 2009, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 74 years and 8 days.
On May 2, 1953, he was married to Zelda Moss in Huntsville, Arkansas and to this union was born three sons, Jeral David, Randy and Kenny. J.D. was a farmer and raised cattle and chickens for a living. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a Mason, and a member of Clearfork Community Church.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeral David Leatherwood, an infant sister, Wilma Leatherwood and one sister, Georgia Leatherwood.
His surviving family includes his wife of 55 years, Zelda Leatherwood, of the home in Westville; two sons, Randy Leatherwood and wife, Judy, of Westville, Kenny Leatherwood and wife, Kim, of Chandler, OK; grandchildren, Jayme Leatherwood, of Stillwater, OK, Kenli and Jason Stanfill, of Westville, Garrett Leatherwood, of Stillwater, OK, Grant Leatherwood, of Stillwater, OK, Chelsea Leatherwood, of Westville, Jason and Eniko Wright, of Ft. Rucker, AL, and Jeremy Wright, of Siloam Springs, AR; great grandchildren, Riley Stanfill, of Westville, Jason Stanfill, of Westville, Landon Wright, of Siloam Springs, AR, and Madilyn and Malia Martin; brother, Bob Leatherwood and wife, Pat, of Stilwell and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
