Otis Eugene “Gene” Thomas son of Luther “Luke” Thomas and Olie Mabel Anderson was born April 24, 1944 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life on September 16, 2019 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 22 days.

Gene had a great love for old cars and hot rods from a young age. He left high school early to serve our country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam. He later received his GED but was most proud when he was an honorary graduate in 2016 along with his granddaughter Avery. He was owner/operator of “The Tin Shop” in Kansas for many years to provide for his family. Anyone that knew Gene, knows “Cupcake” his beloved Yorkie. Most of all he enjoyed family time but especially his grandkids.


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Carolyn (Pruitt) Thomas and brother; Leon Thomas.
 

Gene is survived by a very loving family that includes his children; Hans Thomas and wife Deana of Philadelphia, Kevin Thomas of Turpin, Kaye Jenkins and husband Jeff of Stilwell, Dania McVey and husband Bryan of Garden City, Kan., 10 grandchildren; Isabella Thomas, Tommy Thomas, James Thomas, Zachary Jenkins, Avery Thomas, Kaylee Jenkins, Anniston Thomas, Jacoby McVey, Jordan McVey and Isaac McVey. Siblings; Luther Thomas, Carol Hames and husband Don, Sue Keller, Betty Shirley and husband David, Johnny Thomas and wife Helen, Larry Thomas and Dorothy Snowder, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive him.
 

Funeral services were held Friday, September 20, 2019 at Honey Hill Church, Stilwell, with Bro. Glenn Hopkins and Donna Thomas officiating.

Interment followed at Piney Cemetery, Stilwell, under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell.
