Betty Jo Watt
February 18, 1933 - April 4, 2006
Betty Jo Watt was born on February 18, 1933, in Hughes Co., Oklahoma to Edmund Harjo and Polly Stidham and departed this life on April 4, 2006 at her home in Westville at the age of 73 years, one month and 16 days.
Betty went to school at Chilocco Indian School where she met Gus Watt. She and Gus married in October of 1950. They resided in Kansas City, Missouri for a number of years until Gus retired and they made their home in Westville. They renewed their wedding vows on July 4, 1998 and in 2000 they were baptized together at the Old Green Baptist Church.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Gus, her parents, Edmund Harjo and Polly Stidham, five sisters: Nancy Wolfe, Edna Mae Fixico, Herney Harjo, Irene and Alice Wolfe and three brothers: Ed Smith, Bob Smith and John Beaver.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna Little and husband Aaron of Arkoma, and Cassandra Bennett and husband James of Vian; one son: Gregory Watt and wife Linda of Westville; six grandchildren: Jeremy Little of Ft. Smith, Laura Peck and husband James of Van Buren, Jesse Little and wife Lisa of Arkoma, Jennifer Ann Summers and husband Jay of Poteau, William Henry Bennett and Sampson Bennett both of Vian; five great-grandchildren: Jalen and Easton Little, Taven Peck, Jace and Jance Summers. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends also survive her.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Bro. Andrew Harlin officiating.
Interment followed in the Old Green Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Westville, Oklahoma.
