John James Karpack

John James Karpack, the son of Leonard Joseph and Russilla Jane (Berry) Karpack, was born September 25, 1926, in Altus, Arkansas. He passed from this life on May 12, 2014, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 17 days.
John attended schools in the Dallas area and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He married Norma Ford on August 31, 1946, in Dallas and later moved to Mountainburg, Arkansas. In 1952, the family moved to Oklahoma and made their home in Stilwell where John became a rancher.
John was a member of the First United Methodist Church and VFW. His hobbies included gardening, watching Dallas Cowboys football, traveling and visiting Izora’s Daylight Donuts and drinking coffee with the locals.
Those preceding him in death include, his parents, Leonard and Russilla Karpack, two brothers, Walter Simmons and Leonard Joseph Karpack, Jr. and his baby brother.
His surviving family includes, his wife of 67 years, Norma Dean Karpack, of Stilwell; son, Donald Karpack and wife, Vera Leigh, of Colstrip, MT; daughter, Amy Lynn Morris, of Stilwell; grandsons, Teddy Jack, Jackie Ray and Jacob Alvin, granddaughters, Jessica Lynn and Rachel Ann, great granddaughter, Marella Hope Morris and great grandson, Max Archer Benson.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Larry Eubanks officiating. Final arrangements were entrusted to Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
