Stanley Leo Glabas
September 26, 1926 - January 26, 2006
Stanley Leo Glabas was born on September 26, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Jacob Glabas and Rose (Knaak) Glabas. Stanley passed from his life on January 26, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jacob (Jukie) Glabas and Raymond Glabas.
He is survived by his wife, Rowena, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, David and Beth of Tahlequah; daughter and son-in-law; Margie and John of Stilwell; three grandchildren whom he loved dearly, McKenzie, Kyndle and Levi, and two sisters of Niles, IL, Margaret Kubacki and Dorothy Glabas. A host of nieces and nephews also survived him.
Stanley was a WW11 and Korean War Veteran. He also served in the Berlin Airlift. He began his 20 year military career in January 25, 1944 at the age of 17 years. He served 10 years in the Navy and 10 years in the Army. His first job in the Navy was an ant-aircraft gun loader on the LST (Landing Ship Tank) 666. At the end of WW11 he went into Naval Aviation. After completion of his career in the Navy he began a new career in the Army as a Aviation Mechanic. He retired from the Army on August 31, 1964 as a Staff Sergeant. During his military career, he met his wife Rowena, and they married on May 17, 1962 in Shawnee, OK. During his military career he earned numerous service awards for participation in World War 11 in the Pacific Theatre, the Berlin Airlift and the Korean War.
Stanley retired from Franklin Electric after 20 years of employment. Stanley loved his family and was very proud of them. His family has always admire his service to his country and will miss him dearly.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Larry Kindle officiating. Stanley was laid to rest in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
