Loy William Petree Sr. was born August 7, 1922, in Pettigrew, Arkansas to John Franklin and Mary Frances (Hooper) Petree and went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2011, in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 14 days.
Loy worked as a fruit harvester and farm worker before he joined the Merchant Marines. Later, he moved to Stilwell where he made his home for the past 50 years.
He married Evelyn Nadine Bennett in Stilwell on March 12, 1962.
Loy worked as a concrete finisher for several years before becoming a dairy farmer. He was a member of Rocky Mountain Bible Church and loved being a door greeter there.
He was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them as well as hunting, fishing, farming and watching his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Troy Franklin Petree, Elmer Petree and Charles Petree and one sister, Cora Turman.
His surviving family includes, his wife, Evelyn Petree, of the home; three sons, Richard and Vickie Petree, of Riverbank, CA, Edward and Terri Petree, of Modesto, CA and Loy Petree Jr., of Stilwell; two daughters, Nancy Arnett, of Stilwell and Linda Workman, of Summers, AR; two brothers, Lloyd and Marlene Petree, of Stilwell, Johnny and Pat Petree, of Cool Water, NV; two sisters, Flora Rider and Mary Province, both of Stilwell; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Petree, Johanna Petree, Breann Petree, Aaron Hartung, Jason Petree, Nicholle Brown, Dustin and Onnie Petree, Derek Arnett, Jeremy Arnett, William Arnett, Nick Workman, Melanie and Mike Green, and Wesley Workman; and great grandchildren, Hunter, Austin, Fisher, Rocky, Katelen, Ashley and Erin.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at Roberts Reed Culver Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rob Matlack officiating. Interment will follow at Freewater Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.

Evelyn Nadine Petree was born November 3, 1930, in Adair County, Oklahoma to Bill and Beulah Mae (Thurber) Bennett. She departed this life to be with the Lord on January 23, 2012, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 20 days.
Evelyn married Loy Petree on March 12, 1962 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She worked as a precinct clerk for the Adair County Election Board and in 1992 she became a foster grandparent at Rocky Mountain School. She was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful quilts for family and friends. Evelyn loved gardening and raised her own vegetables and lovely flowers. She was a member of Rocky Mountain Bible Church.
Those preceding her in death include, her parents,Bill and Beulah Bennett; her husband, Loy Petree, on September 28, 2011, two sons-in-law, Rick Workman and John Arnett and three brothers, Edward, Tommy and Freeman Bennett.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving family which includes, two sons, Danny Brannon and wife, Lowetta, and Loy Petree Jr. all of Stilwell; two daughters, Nancy Arnett, of Stilwell and Linda Workman, of Summers, AR; nine grandchildren, Dustin Petree and wife, Onnie, Derek Arnett, Jeremy Arnett, William Arnett, Nick Workman, Melanie Green and husband, Mike, Wesley Workman, Joshua Brannon and Danny Brannon Jr. and great grandchildren, Hunter, Austin, Fisher, Rocky, Katelen, Ashley, Erin and Keisha.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Rob Matlack officiating. Interment will follow at Freewater Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
