Dorothy (Kelley) Morland
Dec 28, 1944 - Jul 2018

ŠThe Stilwell Democrat Journal

Wednesday, July 25, 2018

Submitted by Jan Grooms

Dorothy Morland was born December 28, 1944 in Stilwell, the daughter of Earnest and Bertha (Hamilton) Kelley. She spent most of her childhood in Stilwell, attending Stilwell Schools until she married Ronnie Morland on September 22, 1961 at the age of fifteen (although the preacher thought she was sixteen). The young couple made their home in Collinsville, working on Ronnie’s family dairy. In 1962 the couple welcomed their first child: Ronnie into the home, followed by Traci in 1970.

After Ronnie’s parents passed away, the younger Morlands bought more cows for the dairy, but these they treated more like pets, all having names and being showered with lots of attention. They lived on the dairy until 1993 when they retired and moved to their new home in Rose.

Dorothy loved gardening, and had a very bright green thumb. She didn’t discriminate when it came to flowers and blooms; she was known to bring in wildflowers and even turn some weeds from the field into “something pretty in her garden.”

Dorothy wasn’t your normal grandma to her grandchildren, whom she loved like crazy. She was strong-willed and even stronger in her constitution. She was determined to “do what she had to do,” something her children and friends all admired and will remember. She was a very giving individual, and made sure everyone was taken care of. She was young at heart.

Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Bertha (Hamilton) Kelley, her husband of 56 years, Ron Morland, four brothers; Artist, Kenneth, John Henry and Wayne Kelley, one sister, Ruth Kelley.

She is survived by her son Ronnie Morland and wife Melory of Tulsa, her daughter, Tracie Driver of Rose, granddaughter, Amanda Houston and husband Alex of Owasso, four sisters; Geneva Poor, Pearl Boster, Elise Boster and Goldie Brown all of Stilwell, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
