Ben James Merchant, son of James Woodrow Merchant and Rachel Nicole Craig, was born on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Angels flew him home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the tender age of 29 days.

The little one we longed for was swiftly here and gone. But the love that was then planted is a light that still shines on. And though our arms are empty, Our hearts know what to do. Every beating of our hearts says we love you.

Ben was preceded in death by his grandmother: Rebecca Ann (Sam) Leach, great grandfathers: Woodrow Teehee, Mack Brown, great grandmothers: Gladys Brown and Edna Craig, uncles: Benjamin Shell, Woodrow Sam and aunt: Adrianna Sam.

He leaves behind a very loving family that includes his parents: James Merchant and Rachel Craig, siblings: Kaylee Ann and Christopher Lynn Merchant, grandparents: Christopher Leach, Jerry and Teresa Clinton, great grandmother: Juanita Teehee, several aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

Lil Ben, Lil Choog, My awesome little guy. As I think about you, it's hard not to cry. I'm going to miss those big, dark eyes And the way they twinkled When the light hit them just right. June 19th was the day you were born, Two weeks later we brought you home. We held you, we fed you and you made us laugh. Now all of a sudden, it's like we're saying "Goodbye", but I know it's not bye, It's more like see you later. Because one day soon we'll be in heaven together, So until the day we meet again, In my heart is where I'll keep you Ben.

Funeral services were held at 10 am on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Fairfield Church with Bro. Salaw Hummingbird officiating. Interment followed at Fourkiller Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
