Tommy Jack Hubbard
September 22, 1921 - March 30, 2006
Tommy Jack Hubbard, age 84, was born September 22, 1921 in Proctor, to William M. (Bill) and Jewell (Vaughn) Hubbard, and he passed away March 30, 2006 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He attended Proctor grade school through the 8th grade and he graduated from Westville High School. He then completed machinist trade school and worked as a machinist in Seattle, Washington and also as a welder in the shipyards in California before volunteering for the U.S. Marine Corps on October 8, 1942. He served with the 1st Marine Division in the Pacific in Australia and saw action at New Guinea, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, Palely Island, Palau Islands, Okinawa Ryukyu Islands and the occupation of China. He was discharged on June 8, 1946.
He attended NEO A&M. He married Vesta Lea (Coe) Hubbard. To this union three sons were born.
He attended OK A&M (OSU) where he graduated with a degree in Vocational Agriculture Education. He taught agriculture at Lymon and Oxford, Nebraska, for three years, and then took a job as a education/training specialist with the Air Force Training Command in the Communications and missile department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Masons, Shriners and American Legion. He retired in 1979. He enjoyed working with farm animals and gardening with his wife Frances.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Maudean C. (Bagby), that he married in 1979; one brother: Walter D. Hubbard; two sisters: Beatrice Crow and Mary Jane Lane; one half sister: Ann Clinton; and one great grandson: Tommy Dale Hubbard.
He is survived by his wife Frances Marie Hubbard of the home in Baron; three sons: Tommy J. Hubbard, Jr. and David L. Hubbard of Dallas, and Charles D. Hubbard and wife Connie of Midlothian, Texas; three step children: Sherry Harvey of London, England, Shayne Leach and wife Rachel of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and Shawn Johnson and husband Kevin of Rogers; four grandson, one granddaughter, five step granddaughters and on step grandson; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter and one brother: Charles E. Hubbard and wife Jerry of Westville. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
Funerals services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Westville, with Bro. Joel Betrow officiating.
Internment followed in the Foreman Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
