Submitted by Jan Grooms

Buck Hummingbird, son of Alex and Eliza (Tidwell) Hummingbird, was born on March 20, 1959 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  He passed from this life at the age of 61 on February 5, 2021.

He was a life-long resident of the Stilwell area, attending school at Rocky Mountain and Cave Springs.  Buck was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church.

He had an outgoing and friendly personality.  You were always greeted with a smile, whether you were family, a long -time acquaintance or someone he just met. Buck treated everyone the same as a friend.  He was always ready to lend a hand and do what he could to help any who needed help with anything.

Buck loved his children and grandchildren dearly and was always there for them.

He worked as a pole barn builder in his younger days, was a good carpenter and could fix just about anything.

Buck enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, whether it was for deer or raccoon.   He always kept one or two coonhounds around.   Lately, he was not able to do as much as he used to.

He was greeted home by his wife Faye, great grandson Kayden, parents, sisters: Rosa Hummingbird, Sadie Aragon, brother-in-law Marvin Galcatcher, nephews: Jonah Galcatcher and Robert Christie.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Amos Hummingbird, Emmerson Hummingbird, Regina Ballard, step children: Michael Chewey, Darren Beaver, Matilda Birdtail, Bruce Grigsby  and Capri Blakely, 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother: Alex Hummingbird, sisters: Loretta Galcatcher, Cynthia Hummingbird, Patricia Beaver and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Happy Hunting in Gloryland, Buck!

From all of us, who love and will miss you always.

Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell, OK with Minister Robert Fourkiller officiating.  Interment followed at Echota Cemetery, Stilwell, Oklahoma.
