George Leon Unger Sr.
April 9, 1943 - April 7, 2006
George Leon Unger Sr., the son of Bush Unger Sr. and Bonnie (Watkins) Unger, was born April 9, 1943 in Stilwell, and passed away April 7, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 28 days.
George was a carpenter by trade and used his skill to construct houses, pole barns and chicken houses. He also worked for the Corp of Engineers and in the logging business. His many interests included gardening, farm work, hunting, fishing, and ranching. George loved his kids and grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Garland Unger and Charlie Unger; four sisters, Maxine Unger, Irene Russell, Margie Goldman and Helen Eli; two sons, Johnny Ray Unger, Sr. and Michael George Unger and two daughters, Sherry Lyn Unger and Brandi Watkins.
Survivors include three brothers, Bush Unger, Jr. and wife, Elsie, of Bell, Todd Unger and wife Lynn, and Jim Unger, all of Stilwell; two sisters Atha Jean Stephson and husband James, and Lenore Workman all of Stilwell; nine children, Paula Kelley and husband, Gary of Welling, George Unger, Jr. and wife Regina, David Unger and wife Tammy, Jamie Unger, Jack Unger and wife Katie, Kristi Daugherty and husband, Marcus, Jeremy Unger, Melody Unger and fiancee, Bob and Rhonda Unger all of Stilwell. 18 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and special friends. Tye Warren, Guy and Delores Warren and Donny and numerous family and friend also survive him.
Graveside services were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Ewing Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Glen Hopkins officiating.
Burial was under the direction of Hart Funeral Home
