June 2013
Submitted by: Martha Real
Samuel Lee Mayfield, son of John Lee and Nadean (Convirs) Mayfield, was born on May 15, 1951 in Healdsburg, California and passed from this life to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 10 days.
Sam was a truck driver. He had been since the age of 16, when he was taught by his uncle, J.C. Kincheloe. He loved trucks. Sam could put an 18 wheeler in where no one else could. He had almost ¾ of a million miles under his belt. Sam was awesome and he loved racing. Race cars were his passion. He had oil in his blood, he worked on pit crews and almost never missed a race. Sam had a race car at one time that sat in the back yard in Riverbank, CA. He was also a great mechanic.
He was a people person. Sam could make you laugh and laugh hard. He loved the Lord. He was and is a good man, always willing to help out, share anything and give you the shirt off of his back.
The Lord must have needed a load delivered, so Sam said “Uh, That’s a 10-4 Good Buddy. Rodger Dodger. I’m puttin’ the hammer down. Over and out.”
Sam’s father: John Mayfield and sister: Lawanda Clinton preceded him in death.
He is survived by a wonderful, loving family that includes his son: Jonathan Lee and wife Valerie of Oakdale, CA, their children: Cole, Dylan and Memphis Mayfield, daughters: Stacie Fiddlelake and husband Shawn of Ft. Smith, AR, their children: Cody Mayfield and Jeffrey Fiddlelake, Alysa Mayfield of Stilwell, step children: Trisha and Michael Barker, mother: Nadean Mayfield of Stilwell, OK, sister: Debbie Rogers and husband Tom of Stilwell, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services at 10 am on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. Paul Etter officiating. Interment followed at Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell, Ok.
