Lola L. (Stephenson) Mathews was born on September 30, 1939 in Bunch, Oklahoma to John M. Stephenson and Katherine Melinda (Tounzen) Stephenson. She departed this life on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 78 years of age.

She graduated from Stilwell High School in 1958. Lola married the love of her life, James Mathews, in September of 1958.

She was a home daycare operator and a homemaker. Lola loved children and little dogs. She enjoyed doing crafts. Lola was always the same, no matter what. She always had a big smile, sweet and gentle.
 

Lola was preceded in death by her parents: John and Katherine Stephenson, her husband: James M. Mathews and her sister-in-law: Ruby, brothers: Johnny Stephenson, Robert Stephenson and wife Betty.
 

She is survived by her children: James Stevie and wife Gina and Judy Mathews, all of Stilwell, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, siblings: Erma Stephenson, Mary Hutchinson, Kenneth Stephenson and Douglas Stephenson of Wichita, Kan., Ellis Stephenson and wife Sandra of Tulsa, Lela Moore of Milton, Fla., sister-in-law: Francis Stephenson of Mountainburg, Ark., a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lola is also survived by lots of adopted kids and grandkids that thought the world of her and that she cherished.
 

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Roberts/Reed- Culver Chapel, Stilwell, with Bro. Josh Hopkins officiating.

Interment followed at Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell.
