Joel John Isaac Bunyard

Joel John Isaac Bunyard, son of David John and Martha (Serratt) Bunyard, was born on October 5, 1923 in Christie, Oklahoma and departed this life on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Westville, Oklahoma at the age 89 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Joel served our country proudly and bravely during World War II. He saw action in Ardennes, Germany, Central Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Joel was awarded with several service medals honoring his service. After his return from the war, he held different jobs and wore many hats. For many years he worked the line at Franklin Electric in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Joel was a warm, giving man that loved his family and always provided for them. His many friends and his family will miss him deeply.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents: David & Martha Bunyard, sisters: Lucille Cates, Lorraine Chandler, his first wife: Opal Alberty and step grandson: Robert F Alberty.
He is survived by his loving family that includes his wife: Lovenia Bunyard of the home in Westville, stepchildren: Landra Alberty and husband Cleve of Westville, Sandra Edgmon and husband Danny of Baron, OK, Douglas Phillips and wife Pam of Westville, Jason Phillips and wife Rhonda of Westville, 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 nieces: Sue Hembree of Westville, Patsy Sutton of Tulsa and nephew: Darrell Cates of Westville.
Graveside services at 10 am on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell, OK with Andy Harlin officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
