John Gonzales Jr., son of Jones “John” and Eliza (Livers) Gonzales was born February 2, 1942 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on April 19, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 17 days.
John married the love of his life, Kathy Bunch on March 18, 1965 and to this union 3 children were born; Herbert, Jeanette and Leanna. John worked at David Ray’s in Stilwell for over 35 years.
John was saved at an early age. John Jr. began preaching the word at the age of 17 and continued to spread God’s word for over 40 years. John Jr. began his first pastorate between two churches, Illinois River and Mulberry Tree Baptist Church. He pastored at many other churches during his ministry and evangelized for many years. He then became the pastor at Piney Church in Jay, Oklahoma where he has pastored for the last 14 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Andy and Cale Gonzales, 3 sisters; Louella Proctor, Sadie Hummingbird and Dorothy Hummingbird.
John is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife of over 45 years, Kathy Gonzales of the home in Bunch, Ok, 3 Children; Herbert “Herbie” Gonzales and wife Shirlene of Welling, OK, Jeanette Gonzales of the home in Bunch, OK, Leanna Ritter and husband Wayne of Siloam Springs, AR, 1 grandson; Samuel Lee Morgan, 5 granddaughters; Deanna Gonzales and companion Gary Doublehead, Samantha Morgan all of Stilwell, OK, Kristi, Keli and Kayli Gonzales all of Welling, OK. great grandchildren: Emily, Garrett and Jakob Doublehead, Kyle Vann, 2 brothers; Dennis Gonzales, Leo Gonzales, 2 sisters; Mae jean Littledeer and Louise Mounce all of Stilwell, OK, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were hlad at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chaple with Rev. Richard Budder and Bro. Junior Jones officiating. Interment followed at Chuculate Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
