Sam Lewis Owl, son of Daniel and Lizzie Vann Owl, was born on August 8, 1943 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 7 days.
Sam was a longtime resident of the Oklahoma City area and in 1979 he was saved and baptized in Yukon, OK. When he retired, he moved back to the Stilwell area and attended Crossroads Baptist Church. Sam enjoyed playing and singing gospel music. He was a self-taught musician. He also loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Preceding him death were his parents: Daniel and Lizzie Vann Owl, sisters: Nellie Pettit, Peggy Williams, and Mary Waters, brothers: Woodall Owl, Sam Owl, and Joe Owl.
Surviving Sam are his daughters: Jada Owl Wright of Tahlequah, OK, Vena Owl Langford and Raven Owl of Stilwell, OK, grandchildren: Holly, Justin and Falon Wright of Tahlequah, Clayton Langford, Faren Walker and Loren Walker, all of Stilwell, brothers: Daylight Owl and Daniel Owl, both of Stilwell, Steven Owl of Bunch, OK, sisters: Nancy Bunch and Lucy Owl of Bunch. Many other relatives and friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Gary Leach and David Mink officiating. Interment followed at Bunch Cemetery.
