February 24, 1927 - June 8, 2014
Irvin Welch Palone, 87, of Westville, Oklahoma died June 8, 2014 at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. Born February 24, 1927 in Westville, OK he was the son of Richard Palone and Mary Lou Elsie Williams Palone. On April 28, 1948 he married Mary Jane Smith in Springfield, Missouri. Shortly thereafter they moved to the Detroit, Michigan area where they lived in Ferndale, MI for 51 years.
In 1958 a darling little baby girl was born into their family and she changed their lives forever. Irvin worked at the Rotary Electric Company – LTV Steel Co. in the manufacturing and finishing of stainless steel in Centerline, MI for 33 years. After retiring from LTV in 1983 he spent about 10 years with a friend in the landscaping and sodding business. In 1995 he had a heart attack and in 1997 an upper lobe of his lung removed for cancer. He was a survivor from both.
During that time he spent much time with his neighbors, driving them to doctor's appointments visiting them in hospitals, and became guardian and conservators over one dear neighbor who had been badly mistreated. He kept that neighbor in good health from 84 to 90 years of age. He loved them all. Irvin loved his family. They went camping often but always came back on Saturday for church Sunday. They were very active members of the large Temple Baptist Church in Detroit for 50 years and had many close friends there who they loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by a dear little grandson, Joshua Cole, his parents, two sisters, Peggy June and Tressa Walker and her daughter, Lou Anna, two brothers, Richard Palone the second and James Franklin Palone.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, one daughter Gina Lynn, two grandsons, Justin Earley and Aaron Earley, Aaron's wife Kelly, and their boys, Jayden Lee, Kadden Welch and Aaron Irvin, and Irvin's brother, Glenn O'Dell Palone.
Funeral services at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Craig Ingram officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery, Westville, OK.
