John Benjamin Morris
age 74
Death has visited our county again this week and claimed another of our highly respected pioneer citizens, John B. Morris, age 74 died at his home Tuesday after an illness of some six years. He had spent most of his life in this section, was one of our very best citizens, a former county commissioner from this district and a man who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, four daughters, four brothers, two sisters, eighteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and other relatives and a large host of friends.
The funeral services were held at Baptist Mission Wednesday afternoon and interment was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery. One of the largest crowds ever assembled at this church was present to pay the last respects to their friend and one whom was respected and honored by all.
[John was the son of Gabriel Washburn Morris, Jr. and France Ellen “Frankie” Dougherty Morris and the husband of Fannie Cleveland Morris.]
