Robert Clarence Hinkel was born May 5, 1943, in Durham, Pennsylvania, to Floyd Andrew and Ethel (Miller) Hinkel. He departed this life October 19, 2011, at his home in Westville, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War and receiving the rank of Master Sergeant. After twenty years of honorable service, he retired from his military career and completed his education, receiving a Masters degree in Science. He became a teacher and taught in several schools in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He retired after 16 years. On December 21, 1974, Bob married Drenda Gillette in Mountainburg, Arkansas. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, motorcycling, racing, and working on cars. He was a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, John Gillette and sister-in-law, Beverly Gillette.
His surviving family includes his wife, Drenda Hinkel, of Westville; son and daughter-in-law, James and Alison Hinkel, of Westville and their children, Kylie, Kristen and Bradley; daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Dan Sisk, of Tahlequah and their children, Ethan and Meghan; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Carl Hoops, of Hope, NJ; brothers-in-law, Bill Gillette and wife, Maris-Ann, of Smithville, MO, and James Gillette, of Parkville, MO; sister-in-law, Linda Gillette, of Westville. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones also survive him.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Larry Kindle officiating. Interment will follow at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
