S. G. “Speed” Gregory - Westville Reporter - Friday, May 29, 1959.
Mr. Steval Granville “Speed” Gregory, 65, of Sanger, Calif., a long time resident of Watts, died in the Veterans Hospital at Fresno, Calif., May 7, 1959.
Services for Mr. Gregory were conducted at 2 p.m., May 12 at the Watts Baptist church.
He was a native of St. Paul, Arkansas, born May 19, 1894, and a veteran of World War 1, he received a metal for bravery.
Burial was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Jack Gregory of Watts, a daughter, Helen Jane Frabotta of Chicago, Ill., five grandchildren, two brothers, Henry of Watts, and John of Stilwell, Okla.; four sisters, Susie Nickens of Tulsa, Pearl Robinson and Goldia Dunlap of Watts, Sylvia West of Findley, Ohio.
Pall bearers were, Owen Buffington, John Jones, Earl Waldropp, J.H. Bagby, Earnest Molthan and Chester Erickson. Flower bearers were, Jewel Maggard, Joyce Covey, Gwen Nickens, Wanda Spinks, Aileen and Wilma Dean Wilson.
Other out of town relatives and friends attending included Jimmy Frabotta son-in-law of Chicago, Ill., Noah Nickens, brother-in-law, of Tulsa; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Nickens, nephew; Leon Nickens, great nephew; Kenneth Robinson, nephew; Inez Nickens, niece; Lenair Covey, Jack Dobbins, Arnold Maggard, all of Tulsa; Glenna Vanhooser, niece, of Boynton, Okla.; Glen Robinson, nephew, of Midwest City, Okla.
