Elsie (Parrott) Fitts was born November 9, 1922 in St. Paul, Arkansas to Bob Parrott and Jessie Lee (Johnson) Parrott and departed this life May 30, 2011 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 21 days.
She married William Clyde Fitts on August 15, 1942 in West Fork, Arkansas and to this union were born seven children, Bill, Leonard, Marilyn, Jimmy (Corny), Sharon, Kenny, and Shelley.
Elsie’s primary job was caring for her large family, but she worked summer jobs at various canning factories throughout the area. She and Clyde were well known for their gardens and fresh produce that they readily gave to friends and family. Elsie loved to drink coffee and visit with friends at the kitchen table.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Harvey Parrott, L.D. Parrott, Lester Parrott, and Henry Parrott; an infant grandson, Kyle Haeberle; and daughter, Shelley (Fitts) Haeberle.
Elsie is survived by her sister, Marie Parrott of Fayetteville, Arkansas; children, Bill Fitts and wife, Carol, of Westville, OK, Leonard Fitts and Patsy, of Sallisaw, OK, Marilyn Doyle and husband, Jim, of Christie, OK, Jimmy (Corny) Fitts and wife, Linda, of Watts, OK, Sharon VanDevender and husband, Scott, of Westville, OK, and Kenny Fitts, of Westville, OK; grandchildren, Jerry, Ronnie, Dennis, and Kevin Fitts; Casey Doyle and Shanda (Doyle) Stephens; Sonya (Fitts) Blair, Ginger (Fitts) Vest, and Valerie (Fitts) Gaston; Wesley, Jason, and Jarrod Whiteley and Shantel ( Whiteley) McReynolds; Joshua and Samantha Haeberle; 23 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a very special granddaughter-in-law, Sheila Fitts, who cared for her so well the last several months.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Rhine officiating. Interment will follow at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
