Rufus Grimmett Sr.
June 21, 1942 - July 5, 2007
Rufus Grimmett Sr. son of Bear and Eliza (Vann) Grimmett was born on June 21, 1942 in Bunch, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on July 5, 2007 at the age of 65 years and 14 days.
He was the pastor of Vann Baptist Church where he faithfully served the Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his family and church members. He also enjoyed Gospel singing and playing Gospel music, singing and preaching the word of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; George Grimmett and Robert Grimmett and one sister, Lizzie Grimmett.
Rufus is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife; Charlotte Grimmett of the home in Stilwell, Oklahoma, 4 children; Mary Gourd of Tahlequah, OK., Rufus Grimmett Jr., and wife Diane Grimmett, Joni Grimmett and Tawanna Grimmett all of Stilwell, OK, 5 step-children; Warren Vann of Coleman, Florida, Mack Vann, Adam Vann, April Buss and husband Fred and Kenneth Vann all of Stilwell, OK., 2 brothers;Turner Grimmett and wife Dorothy and Roy Grimmett and wife Inola all of Stilwell, OK, 3 sisters; Linda Washington and husband Teehee of Tulsa, OK., Roberta Bunch of Ada, OK and Louise Wolford and husband Clayton of Claremore, OK.
Several grand children, great grandchildren and many other friends and family members also survive him.
Services were held on Monday, July 9, 2007 in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Brother Steve Campbell and Brother Merle Gregory officiating.
Interment followed at the Beaver Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
